The experience
The Faroe Islands reward patience. Light moves quickly across the mountains, cloud changes the character of a valley in minutes, and familiar places feel entirely different when revisited.
This small-group journey balances landmark landscapes with quieter observations of village life and the coast. The pace follows the conditions: sometimes we stay with a place, sometimes we move quickly, and sometimes the weather leads us somewhere entirely different.
Photographic focus
Coastal landscapes, cliffs and changing Atlantic weather
Long exposures and working with water
Visual storytelling in villages and working harbours
Individual guidance in the field and shared image review
The rhythm of the journey
A clear plan, held loosely enough for the weather.
Each journey is built around a set of viewpoints, hikes and experiences that I want to share with the group. They give us direction, but they do not make a fixed itinerary. Wind, snow, visibility and road closures can change what is possible from one hour to the next, so routes may be adjusted, planned places may be skipped, and unexpected alternatives can become part of the journey.
The pace changes too. Some days may be long crossings through difficult weather as we move from one place to sleep to the next. On others, a brief opening in the conditions can mean moving quickly between viewpoints or keeping to a tighter schedule for an important hike, whale-watching departure or other milestone. Flexibility is not an exception on these journeys; it is essential to travelling safely and making the most of these landscapes.
